Identification
Overall length is 5 1/2". Male: has red on
the head and upper chest. Brown streaking is seen on the lower
breast
and belly. Female: brown-streaked head and brown streaking onto
the
breast and belly.
Food
Searches on the ground and in trees eating weed
seeds, blossoms, buds, and fruits. Will flock to feeders that
offer
sunflower seeds.
Habitat
Urban areas, suburbs, parks, semidry brush areas,
and canyons.
