Max fell on Sunday, March 28th at 3:00pm. He lost 95% use of his right
leg and 100% use of his left leg by 6:30pm, that evening. We admitted
him into the University of Minnesota's Small Animal Hospital. A review
was done on Monday morning by Dr. McVey, a Neurologist. It was
determined that surgery would be necessary to allow Max the best
chance at a full recovery.
On Tuesday, he had back surgery where they found he had a ruptured
disc. They removed the disc material that was pressing against his
spinal cord and a portion of one of his vertebra.
On Wednesday, we brought him home. Amazingly, he was walking almost
as good 24 hours after surgery as he was Monday night, before surgery.
He wasn't prescribed any pain killers.
