Basic Text Formatting in a Web Page

Every web page (IMHO) should have "information" as it's "reason for being". "Gimicks" and "flashy technical maneuvers" may be "cute" but wear thin upon repeated visits to a web page. Learning to format text for clarity and "eye pleasure" occupies much of the web builders efforts. It seem that there are never enough tools for doing exactly what one wants and seeking new resources for formatting text is a constant process. This page visits some of the basic formatting devices for text on a web page.
