A single click Selects a name, file, folder, or application

A double-click Launches the action of a file, folder, or application.

Launcher is Different

Note: The Launcher is one exception to the Single vs Double click principle of the Macintosh operating system (OS).
To "Launch" a file, folder, or application from the Launcher, only a single click is required!

Launching using the Macintosh "Drag and Drop" technic

  1. Locate a file you wish to open (if you are using windows properly, the window containing the file will not cover the whole monitor screen and it will not cover the Launcher).

  2. Click the proper category on the Launcher so the Icon for the Application that you wish to Launch can be seen. (Applications category for most "word processing" applications and Internet category if you are going to open an HTML file using Netscape)

  3. "Drag and Drop" the file you wish to open on top of the Icon of the application icon in the Launcher. The Application will launch and the file will open.

("Drag and Drop", of course, means

    1. click on the icon,
    2. hold down the mouse key,
    3. drag the shadowed image on top of the other icon, and
    4. release the mouse button.
That is a standard Macintosh technic!)
