Besides becoming more savvy about sending attachments, you'll also need to arm yourself with special software to make sure you and your correspondents can read everything you exchange. The following files, mentioned in the "Successful File Attachments" table, will help you do just that. They're available through major online services and from various Internet sites. Macintosh Utilities
The StuffIt Expander with DropStuff freeware/shareware combo can unscramble binhex and uuencode attachments as well as decompress SIT and ZIP archives. If you need to deal only with ZIP files, you could instead get a ZIP shareware program, such as ZipIt.
Both MPack and YA-Base64 are freeware utilities that can handle Base64 and MIME attachments. MPack can encode as well as decode.
Windows Utilities
XferPro is the essential e-mail tool for all Windows users. It handles uuencode, binhex, MIME, and other encoding schemes.
StuffIt Expander for Windows is a Windows version of Aladdin's famous freeware -- handy when a Windows user receives a rogue SIT archive from a Mac user.
