There is a new virus/trojan horse out for the Mac. It's called "Graphics Accelerator." (NOTE that this is NOT "Built-in Graphics Accelerator" from Apple.)Here is the preliminary information, taken from www.macfixit.com
A file called Graphics Accelerator, briefly available on Info-Mac (although apparently now removed) is actually a dangerous Trojan Horse. Do not try to use it.
Users who have had the misfortune to download this file have reported serious problems. According the Mariel Lohninger (and others): The file patches various applications with a new MDEF resource (commonly #128, but it may use other numbers too). It also corrupts the corresponding numbered MENU resource, but if one is not available with that number, it will select one seemingly at random. [You can check on these resources with a utilty such as Apple's ResEdit.] The patched applications will damage themselves more every time they are launched. You can tell that an application is infected, since menu text (usually the Apple menu) is replaced by garbled text (there is more text every time you run the app). However, some infected applications (such as Find File and Eudora) will not experience this. They simply will not be able to launch.
